Flip Your Mattress

Written by Debbie on Saturday, August 18th, 2007 in You Can Do It.

Did you know you should flip your mattress at least once every 30 days. We change our sheets on the bed to remove orders, perspiration, stains, dust mites.

We spend good money on a comfort mattress to help get a good nights sleep without breaking our posture.

While it is nice to sleep on good supportive and comfortable mattresses, we need to flip the mattresses, as we sleep our body weight pushes down and the fiber materials used to made the mattress adjusts to your body and can then shift, becoming lumpy and loose its firmness. So by flipping your mattress all the materials that shifted to the bottom will now be under you.

Even the pillow top mattresses need to be flipped. I have a double pillow mattress that I brought about 4 years ago. I can tell when I sleep that if I toss and turn alot trying to find a comfortable spot that it is time to flip my mattress. Once you flip your mattress you will tell right away as when you lay on your mattress it will again be firm and solid and you can feel the tight supportive weight under you.

So if you want to sleep better on your mattress…… flip it.

Expand Your Knowledge-Read 10 Pages a Day

Written by Debbie on Saturday, August 11th, 2007 in You Can Do It.

A friend told me once during a business meeting that taking time to read can open my mind and expand my knowledge.

He then stated “before you tell me, your are too busy to read, try this”.

Pick a book you have been meaning to read and just read 10 pages a day.

Read the 10 pages during your morning coffee, take a few minutes and sit outside in the fresh air and read the 10 pages.

You will be surprized that by only reading 10 pages a day you could almost read a 300 page book in a month.

Let’s break it down:

Reading 10 pages a day in 7 days adds up to 70 pages. Now multiply this by 4 the number of weeks in a month and this adds up to 280 pages.

When our meeting came to an end, this stayed with me. So when I got home I went to my book shelf and looked at the books I had sitting on the shelves waiting for me to read them over the past several months, some I even had for over a year and the pages had yet been opened, their stories and knowledge left undiscovered.

As I browsed through the books and picked up some of them I checked out how many pages they each had.

Here are some of the books I looked at:

The Slight Edge “Secret to a Successful Life”- 168 pages
By Jeff Olson

The Healing Power of Pets - 270 pages
By Dr. Marty Becker

Life Strategies - 282
By Phillip C. McGraw, Ph.D.

Just looking at these 3 books I could have read these books in about 3 months instead of leaving them sitting on the shelf for 12 months.

So do yourself and your books a favor………read 10 pages a day!
